Hercules
Hercules is what it's called when I play funky music with my laptop. Often its referred to as a DJ set, although it also involves live performance. Of course, really great DJing involves a level of interaction with the music that certainly deserves to be called "performance," so once again terminology gets away from me. The reason my music sometimes gets called "live" is because i'm assembling tracks on the fly - playing pieces where every note was originally composed by me, and sometimes using virtual instruments to create parts on the gig. However, I also incorporate pieces of music by other people, sometimes just a loop that's used as a basis for a remix, or sometimes an entire track that fits the mood of what I'm up to that evening. As, Hercules I've appeared at NYCs best underground parties playing an anything-goes mix of freshstep, house, breaks and hobotech.

This is an excerpt of a much longer piece that was created for an installation called the The Keyhole Experience which existed at Burning Man 2004. The piece is "generative" meaning that it is derived from a matrix of chance operations controlling a synthesizer.
