Master Sessions 6/28

I'm going to be doing two special presentations Dubspot music school during Remix Hotel. They are oriented towards people wanting to get more familiar with the possibilities of performing and prodcuing with Ableton Live. The first session will be a focus on beat production using Drum Racks, and the second will be about digital DJing and the new breed of electronic performance is obliterating the line between DJ and producer. Event is free and begins at 7pm.

Bearded Recluse

I have temporarily relocated my studio to a cabin in westchester county where I am finishing tracks all day. It's nice. If it wasn't for the free haircut that I lucked into, god knows what I would look like by the end of it. I'll finally be finishing the EP that I've been producing for Bless for the last year, and I'll also be polishing off lots of other stuff.

Book of the Storm

The Book of the Storm CD is out. This is a recording of Rob Reddy's wonderful composition for 19 musicians on which I played guitar. The CD is a live recording of a performance at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. You can listen to samples of it and buy the CD at Amazon. (That's me making the sonic mayhem at the opening of Spacious Skies). You can read some great reviews of it here.

Live 7 Power! ...and a review

I am currently writing a book on Ableton Live 7, for the Cengage Learning "Power!" series. Also, my review of Live 7 graces the cover of the Januare Music Tech magazine!

Music Tech Magazine

I debut as an author of the "Ableton Live Workshop" column in May's issue of Music Tech Magazine.  Check it out!

Ableton Live Training Out NOW!

It's finally done! Check it out at the VTC Website . And the first three chapters are available for free!

The World's Best Prom

I've composed the score for a documentary entitled "The World's Best Prom," about the mega-prom that takes place every year in Racine, Wisconsin. Due to be released in April.

Decompression

I co-produced this year's NYC Burning Man Decompression...it was an incredible experience involving 1700 participants and more artists and volunteers than i could possibly keep track of. We converted an enormous williamsburg rooftop into a concrete playa complete with domes, sound, video, fire and enough good-natured freakiness to keep just about anyone happy. Pictures to come soon....

Ableton Live Training

I'm developing training materials for Ableton Live, an incredible piece of music software that plays a big role in most of my performance and production, to be published by VTC.

Anita O'Day\The Maid's Room

I've been assistant engineering some recording sessions for jazz legend Anita O'Day, and now it looks like my guitar playing may appear on the record as well.

We've been working at The Maid's Room, a recording studio on the lower east side. At the end of the first session, the producer asked me to overdub some guitar on a few of the tracks. He has since asked me to record a DUET with Anita later this week. I'm looking forward to it!
